Giorgi Javakhishvili is a film scholar and researcher from Tbilisi, Georgia, holding a BA in Cultural Studies and earned a Master’s degree in Film Studies with the thesis The Aesthetics of Radio in Contemporary Cinema: Transcendental and Traumatic Dimensions of Sonic Perception.

In 2019, he founded the independent cinematic platform www.cinexpress.ge/, serving as it’s Editor-in-Chief. That year he also won the competition Write about Georgian Cinema.

In 2022, he founded the online magazine CinExpress (Cinematic Expression, where he also serves as Editor-in-Chief.

As a filmmaker, Javakhishvili is working on the short film project Pale Evening, Gray Day, and his debut feature – Liberte.

He worked at the Tbilisi and Kutaisi film festivals and attended the Berlinale, Viennale, and goEast as an invited film critic. He served on the FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film Critics) jury at the 2023 Warsaw Film Festival.
